From the Photographer:
MODERN, MINIMALIST, CLEAN
When Courtney Lawhon of Courtney Lawhon Events first contacted me about doing a modern inspired styled shoot with her, I was ecstatic! I have worked with Courtney a number of times in the past year on different weddings and projects and every time I do, she blows me away with what she brings together. She is also a beautiful person inside and out, a total pleasure to work with!
When I came across The Metropolitan, I knew I had come across something special. It had all the feels of an NYC loft. All the gorgeous natural light that flooded into the white room made my photographer heart leap for joy! It was like a blank canvas just waiting for you to come and make the space your own. I showed the venue to Courtney and she was hooked! But don’t just take my word for it. Let’s hear a little something from Courtney herself on her inspiration for this modern, minimalist styled shoot.
From the Planner + Stylist:
“Spending most of my twenties in Brooklyn, I am shaped by the memories I made there. It has often been said that NY is a melting pot for a variety of cultures and boy did I see that first hand! I love how you can order authentic dim sum on one street, turn the corner and have the most delicious tostones on another. Turn again and you have 5 guys from Harlem perfectly harmonizing. That multi-cultural urban influence is what inspired me for this shoot.
The METRO building was a fitting spot for this vision. In NY there’s not a lot of new construction so character and history in architecture is naturally appreciated. And while you can have some of the fanciest of cuisines there with the most amazing views, people truly bring the party. The METRO is an older building in Sacramento that could tell you a story or two of all the people she has seen. The room is simple, the walls are white. I am a minimalist at heart and I think white is one of the purest & most classy colors out there. That palette for me was the perfect backdrop for the couple we wanted to focus on and the life we were about to bring to that space.”
