Words from the Photographer:
We met Jack and Lanaire in the most unique way! We were shooting a different engagement session in Uptown Charlotte, when another person asked us if we were the photographers for the proposal. Since we were not and had no idea what he was talking about, he asked if the couple we were working with wouldn't mind helping out with the proposal. The plan was for them to hand a basket to the unsuspecting girl, Lanaire, that her soon to be fiancé, Jack, had filled with special items from their relationship together. We waited out for them to arrive. As they walked down the sidewalk, our couple handed them the basket and as they rounded the corner, she saw all of her friends and family lined up holding letters saying, "Will you marry me?" Of course we immediately started snapping pictures because it was just so perfect! Because it was such a beautiful moment between them we ended up leaving without touching base with them.
Fast forward to a week later, we were trying to figure out how we could get in touch with this couple and get them these pictures we happened to capture. Then we got a Facebook notification that two of our friends tagged us in. Lanaire had posted a photo her photographers took that had us in the background. She had circled us and asked if any of her friends happened to recognize us. Surprisingly, we had two mutual friends that did! She wanted to see if we happened to get any photos. We immediately emailed them and were able to give them everything we captured!
A few months later, we ended up getting together in the same park in Uptown Charlotte that the proposal happened, to shoot this beautiful engagement session! It was absolutely freezing at the time but you would have no idea looking at them. We started at Romare Bearden Park and then made our way to a friend’s apartment building that has a rooftop that has the most beautiful view of the city, in particular the Duke Energy building which happens to be our favorite! These two are so beautiful together and constantly keep each other laughing which made working with them on this session so much fun!
