Words from the photographer's
Spring in the midwest is a beautiful time! Everything is reborn & sprouting out of the ground. It is like the flowers have just taken on a life of their own and popping up everywhere however the midwest weather is a bit unpredictable this time of year. With that in mind we wanted this photo shoot to be a play on "a secret garden" with the feel of a big empty mansion with just the bride & groom playing about the house.
As for color palettes we wanted to show that you can still use deep colors when planning a spring wedding! We used some beautiful blush & whites but added in pops of deep wine red, oranges, & yellows. We even added a few tropical touches. We also wanted to do something a little different when it comes to the traditional menus you see displayed at weddings by having it folded over the side of the table. This created an interesting focal point & play on the traditional menu. We also used long rectangular see-through place cards.
My personal favorite element from the day was the florals that were growing out of the fire place. It was so grand! You see so often a fireplace backdrop for a winter wedding but to use it for spring with florals was a fun new option.
